Whew! Last month’s trip to Fredericksburg to support the amazing readers and authors at Horror on the Rappahannock was amazing! The vibes were fantastic. My favorite aspect of these events are the evening hangouts, where we enjoy each other’s company over food and libations. Everyone genuinely enjoying each other’s company. That’s the magic Christine Harold, the host, brings every time, without fail.
As the event’s bookseller, I lugged over 700 paperbacks into that room with the help of a few friendly authors. The readers were waiting to collect their preorders and shop for new books and let me tell ya, they are READERS. Many walked away with boxes of books busting at the seams. I was elated, not for bookseller reasons, but because I love seeing people who love their dark fiction as much as I do. These are my people—true book people.
I came prepared, hopeful that selling out of individual titles would be the exception to the rule. Why? Because I’d rather have overstock than have a reader leave empty-handed. This event is about connecting readers, writers, and the art binding them. Kinda hard to make that magic happen without the art (books). So I brought plenty.
Here’s a list of the top sellers to satiate your curiosity.
The Haunting of Room 904 by Erika T. Wurth
The Rotting Room and Much Too Vulgar by Viggy Par Hampton
Landlocked in Foreign Skin by Drew Huff
Wake Up and Open Your Eyes by Clay McCleod Chapman
Bury the Child by L.C. Marino (hiiiiiii)
The Redemption of Morgan Bright by Chris Panatier
Bless Your Heart by Lindy Ryan
Empty Devils by Chris DiLeo
The Inn-Sitter by Heather Mihok
Pocket Full of Teeth by Amy Hardy
Returning home, I turned my focus to restocking the shelves and highlighting the books for readers who couldn’t attend the event. They want to support their favorite authors and an indie bookseller. So, here we are. The shelves are stocked, ready for you to explore on the website. Peruse at your leisure, pick a few stories to entertain your dark side, and remember to share your thoughts about the stories wherever you share your favorite books with friends.
